Q. What is Regaine®?
A. Regaine's active ingredient is minoxidil. It comes in
two strengths, 2% minoxidil and 5 % minoxidil.
Q. How does it work?
A. When applied directly to the scalp, Regaine®
stimulates hair growth in males and females with
hereditary hair loss (androgentic alopecia) .
Q. How effective is Regaine®?
A. Clinicial studies have shown that Regaine® is
effective in slowing or stopping hereditary hair loss in
4 out of 5 cases. 60% will grow new hair.
Q. How soon should I expect to see results?
A. Clinicial studies show that Regaine® 5% users may see
results following 8 weeks of treatment, whilst Regaine®
2% users may need to wait 4 months or more for results.
You will know that the treatments is working when you
observe some changes such as fewer hairs on the pillow
and/or less hair in your brush or comb. It is perfectly
natural to lose up to a hundred hairs per day. For those
who successfully achieve regrowth, the regrowth will
initially be soft, downy and colourless (vellus hair).
This hair will eventually begin to look like the rest of
the hair on your head with continued use of the product.
Q. What is the difference between Regaine® 5 % and
Regaine® 2%?
A. The key difference between Regaine® 2% and Regaine®
5% is that 5% works faster. Clinicial studies have shown
that Regaine® 5% users may see results following 8 weeks
of treatment, whilst Regaine® 2% users may need to wait
4 months or more for results. With 5% use there is a
slight increase in the incidence of side effects,
although these side effects are of the same type as
those experienced by 2% users. Generally these are minor
skin irritations.
